In 2000 the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers proposed a Shoreline Management Plan.  A group of concerned citizens banned together and formed Save Greers Ferry Lake, Inc.  SGFL joined with the Arkansas Nature Alliance and successfully petitioned the Corps to request a reexamination of the Plan and reduce the number of new docks that would be allowed.

In 2004 the Arkansas Wildlife Federation awarded its prestigious "Water Conservationist of the Year" award to SGFL, Inc.  The award, which honors groups and individuals who have made significant contributions to promoting the conservation of Arkansas' natural resources, was given for SGFL's efforts to protect the lake.  

SGFL volunteers continue to monitor activities that might adversely impact the Greers Ferry Lake.  We welcome input from the public, including any concerns about the future welfare of this increasingly important source of flood control, power, clean drinking water and recreation.
